We Outside: A Guide to Weekly Dallas Dance Parties

The streets are back open and I want to dance with someone – as long as they are vaccinated or maintain safe social distancing, because it is still a pandemic here. However, we all deserve to have a fun night or two with an escape to the streets, where cheap tacos and heavy drinks await. In preparation for this listicle, I’ve spent the last two Sundays in these streets (for journalistic research) to give you my picks for the best weekly dance parties in Dallas. For Sundays and beyond, here are your best options.

(If you would like your weekly featured or have a recommendation, feel free to email or invite me…TO THE STREETS. This post will be updated if necessary, so add it to your favorites.)

Jamz at the ruins

Sundays are the new Saturdays. DJ Blake Ward’s rotating DJ lineup makes you want to call on Monday mornings. The award-winning DJ hosts a weekly showcase of the best in town for Ruins in Deep Ellum attendees. This weekend, Brandon Blue graces the decks next to Ward from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. On the 30th, DJ Rizkalla and DJ Mutemor are the star guests.

Sadie Hawkins dancing at Charlie’s Star Lounge

The Sadie Hawkins dance / In my khaki pants / There is nothing better. May the time-honored lyrics of Relient K, a little-known icon of the mainstream pop-punk era, guide you to DJ Ursa Minor’s weekly Sunday at Charlie’s Star Lounge in Old East Dallas. Minor, the ‘Undisputed King of R&B’, turns the refurbished dive bar into the sultry, romantic and fun dance of your college dreams. I know, because when Minor played “On The Hotline” by Pretty Ricky, my preteen screamed! Order a frozen cherry lemonade from the bar and enthusiastically sing along to classics from the past, like “Can We Talk?” By Tevin Campbell?

Meet me underground at curfew in Fort Worth

* Cue Stefon’s voice from SNL * Fort Worth’s most popular dance party is Meet Me Underground. This Monday night has it all: 90s deep house, techno, country and anime club. I actually don’t know if they have an anime club (someone is telling me). But their rotating lineup of local and national DJs are well worth a late night trip to Curfew on 350 W. 5th St in downtown Fort Worth.

Ladies night at the Virgin Hotel

Calling all my hot girls for Ladies Night at the Pool Club! DJ Christy Ray’s weekly Wednesday Night is the perfect event to toast $ 1 of champagne to a successful midweek. Tonight, DJ Rizkalla takes over from Christy from 8 p.m. to midnight. To pursue their Instagram to catch them on a Friday night at the Commons Club inside the hotel as well.

Quickly shake it up again

Show me what you work with on a Saturday night! DJ Amor and DJ Imperial D take over the Nines Bar in Deep Ellum. Get your knees ready for many possible twerks and WAPs on the dance floor?
