The Washington College Academy School of Arts and Crafts has a little something coming up for everyone.
The historic school offers a variety of traditional and non-traditional arts classes as well as special events. Here’s a look at the special events taking place in September and October.
The WCA will be hosting a Dungeons and Dragons game night starting September 14 at 6.30am. The six-week game night is friendly for beginners, and gamers like to learnLearn the ins and outs of character creation and fantastic tabletop role-playing games. Also in September, the WCA will open its workshop every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon for those interested in painting and drawing in the company of other artists.
In October, the school Washington College Academy will be hosting a fundraising night to help raise funds for the preservation of Harris Hall, which was built on campus in 1842. The fundraiser will take place on October 8 from 7 to 9 pm. All material will be provided.
On October 9, the WCA will host a storytelling workshop for alumni. The workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. which will focus on WCA alumni and their stories of their experiences as students or teachers of the school. Author Carolyn Gregg will lead the workshop with a presentation on how to collect stories, then participants will split into groups and start sharing their stories.
WCA will also host theirits inaugural craft festival on October 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Arts and craftsThe festival will feature school demonstrations, crafts and other products available for sale from local vendors, music, food trucks and more. Product of the craft festival will be used for the preservation of Harris Hall.
