‘The Voice’ looks back on 10 years of Blake Shelton’s dance moves

The voice returned with a special anniversary episode Monday night (May 3), chronicling each contestant’s journey through the season so far in an episode titled “The Road to Lives.” Monday night’s show also marked the show’s 10th anniversary since it premiered in late April 2011, so of course the final episode also had to revisit some of the special memories and unforgettable moments from previous seasons.

Over the years, The voice delivered some truly hilarious TV moments, including a proposal (with a slapstick twist), an unhappy birthday song, and even an adorable puppy, which trainer Blake Shelton used to try and lure a contestant to join his team.

But arguably no moment has been funnier than a compilation of Shelton’s dance moves over ten seasons, which have never failed to elicit laughter – and mockery – from fellow coaches.

“Blake has dance moves? No. We don’t call those dance moves,” coach John Legend joked on Monday night’s episode. “Shufflin ‘Shelton – his shoulders go up and his face gets really disgusting. I don’t know what it is, ”says Kelly Clarkson. “I don’t know what’s going on there. But it’s funny!”

“I don’t think you’ve lived until you’ve seen Blake’s happy dance,” former trainer Adam Levine said, in a clip from a previous season of the show.

It’s actually not the first time in recent days that Shelton’s dance moves have been in the spotlight. The voice. A promo clip for the show that aired in April shows Shelton trying out his best hip-hop dance on rapper Snoop Dogg’s classic “Drop it Like It’s Hot.” The dance routine was in anticipation of Snoop Dogg’s role as Mega Mentor on the show’s Knockout Rounds.

The voice Airs Mondays (and soon Tuesdays) at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Season 20 live broadcasts begin Monday, May 10.
