It is the most campy time of the year. Yes, the Miss Universe pageant (airs Sunday at 8 p.m. on FYI) and that crazy, over-the-top event: the National Costume Contest.
Forget about boring dresses and bikinis. They are kimonos, feathers, headdresses, tridents, wings. In 2015, Miss Thailand became a motorized rickshaw known as a tuk-tuk. That same year, Miss Canada competed in the Stanley Cup, with hockey sticks. While some of the “national” images are pretty obvious – this year’s Miss Japan is in a karate outfit holding a gold medal for the Olympics – half the fun is trying to figure out which flower, bird or symbol these costumes are. complexes are supposed to represent.
Post reviewer Johnny Oleksinski and fashion editor Serena French take a look at some of the most notable costumes of 2021:
Wonder Woman, eh?
Johnny: Wow. I’ve never been there, but is that how people dress in Saskatchewan?

Wikipedia tells us that Brazil is the fifth largest producer of cotton in the world.
Johnny: When I think of a beautiful, vibrant and sunny Brazil, the first things that come to mind are cotton balls and twigs.
