The department carries out a flash inspection on the agricultural sector

The Northern Cape Department of Employment and Labor is to conduct an integrated blitz focusing on the agricultural sector from November 22, 2021 to December 3, 2021 in the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality in Upington.

In a statement released Thursday, the ministry said integrated inspection will include all services offered by Inspection and Enforcement Services (IES), which include compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act ( LSST); Law on Compensation for Industrial Accidents and Occupational Diseases (COIDA); Basic Conditions of Employment Act (BCEA); National Minimum Wage Law; Unemployment Insurance Fund Act (UIF), including the Unemployment Contributions Act, as well as the Employment Equity Act (EEA).

According to the provincial chief inspector, Ivan Vass, the department will be joined by other stakeholders, namely the Home Office, the Human Rights Commission, the South African tax services, the South African Police, the Department of Rural Development, Lands and Reform, and the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

“The Inspection and Enforcement Services endeavor to monitor and enforce Sector Determination 13: Agricultural Sector in the Northern Cape by carrying out proactive and reactive inspections in Kakamas, Keimoes, Augrabies and Groblershoop in the region of ‘Upington,’ Vass said.

Employers are advised to prepare all documents for compliance with all labor laws, and employees are encouraged to bring their complaints or concerns about non-compliance with labor laws to the labor inspector.
