Sissi calls for the development of the Toshka agricultural research center – Politics – Egypt

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday urged to develop, operate and complete the infrastructure of the Toshka “research village” in southern Egypt so that it becomes a training and research center for high level.

The center will help train qualified officials to deal with mechanized agriculture and modern irrigation methods and to select the best types of crops, according to a presidential statement citing El-Sisi.

The Toshka region in the southern desert contains a number of agricultural development projects and is the largest plantation in Egypt covering an area of ​​60,000 feddans.

In his Saturday meeting with Agriculture Minister El-Sayed El-Quseir and a number of officials, El-Sisi followed the future expansion of desert reclamation, particularly in Toshka and East Oweinat, the presidency statement said.

During the meeting, El-Sisi and officials reviewed the joint efforts of the relevant authorities in terms of agricultural development projects in the southern area of ​​the valley and suggested future extensions.

These efforts are aimed at establishing sustainable development projects around these areas and reducing water loss from these areas, the statement said.

During the meeting, the President also reviewed the Integrated Agriculture Project in the Siwa Oasis, where he ordered the optimal use of the region’s natural resources.

El-Sisi also reviewed the executive statute of the Egyptian Society for the Exploitation, Management and Quarrying, highlighting how this company contributes to the proper management of Egypt’s mineral wealth through its new structure. .
