Registration for the DALA summer dance program is now open



DALA News:

Whether it’s dancing for fun, exercising, or enriching a new ability, Dance Arts Los Alamos (DALA) has it covered this summer.

DALA is back in the studio offering in-person lessons and programs for beginner to advanced dancers skill sets. They can’t wait to give their DALA family back the chance to dance, move and sweat after a ythe ear stays at home behind the Zoom screens.

STORYBallet:

DALA created this program for its young dancers to learn the great art of expression and storytelling through movement. Dancers will have the opportunity to attend pre-ballet, dance exploration, lyrical jazz and tap dance lessons with a qualified instructor. This is an opportunity for toddlers to get moving and make new friends in the process:

Timetable:

  • 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. July 5 to 10 – 4 to 6 years old: $ 75 * White Rock A Studio
    Tue / Thurs / Sat – Pre-ballet, lyric and tap dance
    (The pre-ballet will have a demonstration on Saturday during this program)
  • July 19-30 * White Rock A Studio
    10-10: 45 am Tue / Thu for two weeks – Exploration of dance 3-5 years: $ 45
    11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Tue / Thu / Fri for two weeks – pre-ballet ages 5-7: $ 60 (pre-ballet will have a demonstration on Fridays during this program)
  • 10 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. July 12 to 17 – 7 to 9 years old: $ 75 * White Rock A Studio
    Tue / Thurs / Sat – Pre-ballet, lyric and tap dance

    (The pre-ballet will have a demonstration on Saturday during this program)
  • 12:30 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. July 19-30 – 7 to 9 years old: $ 60 * White Rock A Studio
    Tue / Thu / Fri for two weeks – Ballet 1

    (Ballet will have a demonstration Friday during this program)

ASPIRATIONS:

This is a brand new program offered by DALA. Aspirations is designed to help beginner and intermediate dancers have the opportunity to progress in dance for fall 2021. Whether they have never danced before or are coming back to dance after a COVID break, this is a great program to start and try out several genres of dance while working on a solid and healthy technical basis.

  • July 12-16 – 7 to 9 years old $ 125 * White Rock A Studio

LIFEMOVES:

$25 / class or $ 100 for all Classes.

This program offers an evening course from 5.15 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Another brand new program from DALA created for dancers who want to try a little bit of everything on a more relaxed program. This program offers one (1) class per evening from Monday to Friday. This program has been specially designed for artists who wish to improve their coordination skills and knowledge for theater, joy, athletics and general health.

  • June 14 to 18 – From 10 to 14 years old
    Monday: Theater dance

    Tuesday: Rhythm Tap
    Wednesday: Street Dance
    Thursday: Flamenco

    Friday: modern dance
  • June 21-26 – 15 years and over *Trinity on the Hill Studio *Trinity on the hill Studio

DALA Summer Dance Intensive:

The Summer Dance Intensive is DALA’s annual intensive for dancers who have regular dance experience. Their guest artist this summer is Fred Davis of the Dance Theater of Harlem in New York City – don’t miss the opportunity to take lessons from this wonderful guest instructor. This program will strengthen dancers with several genres on offer, endurance exercises and artistic challenges to develop their creative leadership skills.

  • Llevel 2 (9-13 years old)– Classes will take place at $ 260/1 week White Rock Studios from 12:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday $ 455/2 weeks insd 12:15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sat $ 650/3 weeks
    * The program will include Ballet, Tap, Pre-Pointe, Modern, Flamenco, Jazz, Hip Hop, Choreography, Lyric, Musical Theater and Swing.
  • Level 3 courses will take place at $ 280/1 week White Rock Studios from 12:15 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday to Friday $ 490/2 weeks asd 12:15 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Sat. $ 700/3 weeks
    * The program will include Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Hip Hop, Flamenco, Choreography, Variations, Musical Theater, Tap and Contemporary.
  • Level 4/5 courses will take place at $ 300/1 week Trinity on The Hill Studio from 12:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. $ 525/2 weeks Mfrom Fri and from 12:15 to 3:30 p.m. Sat. $ 750/3 weeks
    * The program will include Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Hip Hop, Stretch / Strength, Flamenco, Modern, Variations, Repertoire, Dance Photo / Marketing, Latin Fusion and Musical Theater.

  • Adult Tap – 18 years old and over
    6:45 p.m. – 7:45 p.m. Mondays at Trinity on The Hill
    * PLEASE NOTE: The location will be changed to White Rock Studios for July and August.
  • Adult Flamenco / Spanish – 18 years and over
    6:45 p.m. – 8 p.m. Tuesdays at White Rock Studios
  • Ballet for adults – 18 years and over
    7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Thursdays at Trinity on The Hill
    * PLEASE NOTE: The location will be changed to White Rock Studios for July and August.

Dance Arts Los Alamos is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization that has been operating in Los Alamos County since 1995. DALA is dedicated at promote Dance in Los Alamos and North New Mexico through pto ride sure, professional instruction and quality performances. DALA offers around 75 to 80 dance lessons per week with an average of 5 to 12 students in each class. The age varies from 2 years to adult.

Dance Arts Los Alamos is also home to The Nutcracker on “The Hill,” a community-based historical performance and the splendid history of Los Alamos.
