Apple’s iPhone 13 line production is ahead of schedule and is expected to deliver one of the biggest upgrades in iPhone history (literally). But now a new leak has revealed a design decision no one saw coming.
Spotted by CNet, Apple would produce a revealing pink finish for the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Plus, this somewhat shocking design decision makes sense.
Revealed by Peng Phones, he says Apple won’t have any pink iPhone 13 models available for launch (expected a month earlier this year), but will land in December instead. These fractured color options are common for Apple, which historically released product (RED) versions of its devices months after their initial release. In April, the company also unveiled a purple iPhone 12, seven months after the phone was first announced.
And yet, the real reason for a pink iPhone 13 may be much simpler. Apple last month announced a redesigned iMac alongside the purple iPhone 12 and it comes in silver, blue, green, yellow, and orange finishes with – yes – purple. and pink.
Meanwhile, Apple’s redesign of MacBook Air M2 recently leaked with new silver, blue, green, yellow, orange, purple and pink finishes. “The colors shown on the new MacBook Air are very close, if not identical, to the nuances you see on the media of the new 24-inch iMacs,” said Jon Prosser, the famous Apple tipster.
You can see the pattern here, and with the iPhone 12 available in white, black, blue, green, purple, and red, there could be a wider color alignment to come.
And yet, the pink will likely be the title addition. In 2013, Apple released a pink iPhone 5C and followed it up with a hugely popular “ rose gold ” iPhone 6S that carried over to the iPhone 7 and iPhone SE before being controversial for the regular gold on the iPhone 8. But this year, with pink making a comeback in Apple hardware and Samsung receiving praise for its “ phantom pink ” Galaxy S21, editors are calling for his return.
Needless to say, while a pink iPhone 13 is likely to sell like hot cakes, Apple’s new iPhones bring in a lot more than new colors. The notable upgrade is their new oversized rear cameras, but they are also expected to come with next-gen 5G modems, “ disruptive ” WiFi, MagSafe upgrades, beamforming mics, increased power efficiency (hello battery life), 120Hz ProMotion displays (although Pro models only) and – finally – a smaller notch.
Combine it all with a pink model dropped off just before Christmas? Well done, Apple.
