The Perkette Dance Team from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston Campus took third place at the 2021 Universal Dance Association Virtual College National Championships on April 12.

The Perkettes were the only community college team to compete against four-year-old college and university teams in the Open Jazz Division competition.

“The Perkette dance team continues to grow in talent, dedication and passion every year,” said Britney Patten, Perkette dance coordinator and choreographer. “It was a challenge to compete virtually this year, but the team took it up very well. We are grateful and honored to be third in the country, and I am looking forward and excited to see where we go from here. “

The Perkettes are the official dance team of the MGCCC. For more information about the team, visit mgccc.edu/perkettes.
