Marvel Heroes Don Captain America Costumes For 80th Birthday Covers



Miles Morales, Spider-Woman, Black Cat, Black Widow and many more wear Captain America jumpsuits for special variant covers celebrating Cap’s 80th birthday.

As Captain America celebrates his 80th birthday, Marvel Comics revealed a collection of special variant covers, which see a number of other superheroes donning Star Man-inspired costumes with a plan.

“This year, Marvel Comics is honoring Captain America’s 80th birthday with a new collection of extraordinary variant covers!” the House of Ideas said in an official statement. “These star-studded tributes were designed and crafted by some of the industry’s foremost artistic talents: John Cassaday, Steve McNiven, Iban Coello, Pepe Larraz, Leinil Francis Yu, Mark Brooks, Nick Bradshaw and Terry and Rachel Dodson.”

In total, Marvel has unveiled eight variations of Captain America’s 80th anniversary. The covers – which are set to hit comic book stores starting Wednesday, July 14 – feature Iron Man, Spider-Woman, Miles Morales / Spider-Man, Moon Knight, Black Cat, Black Widow, the Fantastic Four, and Valkyrie. , all sporting Cap-esque variations of their own iconic outfits.

Created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, the Steve Rogers / Captain America character first appeared in Captain america comics # 1, which first appeared on newsstands in December 1940 (with a cover date of March 1941) – a year after the start of World War II. With a cover that shows the eponymous superhero clutching Adolf Hitler on the jaw, Captain america comics # 1 has sold over a million copies.

Cap has been a Marvel staple ever since, starring countless comics, not to mention his massive box office success as a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in which he was played by Chris Evans. While Evans has apparently left the franchise for now, Steve’s legacy has been explored further in the original Disney + series. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which ultimately sees Sam Wilson / the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) take on the role of Captain America.
