These were whitewashed by Levi’s in the first film. After that, the whole wardrobe was made to order. One of my favorite George Lucas quotes from the original #Star wars That’s when he called it: “The most expensive low-budget movie ever made.” 😆 #True story https://t.co/LJ2iSmJBqf

This preview of Luke’s costume reveals how Star wars was originally a low budget and less organized production. Neither Lucas nor anyone else working on the first Star wars, probably expected it to become the profitable intellectual property and cultural sensation it is today. With a budget of $ 11 million (or roughly $ 48 million today), the costume department still had to improvise a bit, which meant using Levi jeans for a movie set in a galaxy far, far away.
The Empire Strikes BackThe company’s budget shot up to $ 33 million, making it one of the most expensive films ever made at the time. It certainly left enough room in the budget to splurge on some new pants for Luke. Hopefully Hamill will provide Star wars anecdotes very soon.
