LYCS architecture designs a sales center inspired by flying egrets

LYCS architecture was inspired by newborn egrets flying vigorously over xiaoshao canal to design the kincang wave egrets sales center in China. the challenge was to be able to maximize the degree of innovation and to complete the project under the ultimate pressure of time. in the short period of 3 months, they were able to successfully conclude the architecture, interior and furnishings design of the center.

LYCS Architecture designed the facade of the building with cascading lines like egrets spreading their wings. it adopts large-scale floor-to-ceiling glass directly facing the street outwards to fulfill the display function of the sales center and emphasize its accommodating attitude. the design also helps to embrace the feature of water inward to create a beautiful new hidden world.

the overhanging horizontal eaves and the entrance glass roof together form a pure and powerful line whose posture gives the great egret impression that takes off and brings the tenacious strength, incredible artistry and noble spirit of this building . the smooth curve and the arc chamfer are integrated with each other, and a progressive linear light belt is combined with the simple light and the luxurious white gold color, creating a high-quality spacious atmosphere.

the designers adopted “homecoming egrets” as a design concept and incorporated design elements in an effort to evoke the feeling of happiness people have after returning home from a busy day. they placed over 200 egrets above the sand table in the atrium flying in the “clear blue sky” and resonating with each other, representing their “coming home” involvement.

the architectural layout of the sales center is symmetrical quite flexibly. with a sand table area at its center, it connects the main entrance with that of the park along the short axis, creating open and flowing spatial effects. on the side of the table, a spiral staircase acts as an important visual element. it creates a moving line from the main hall to the trading area and enriches the spatial quality with the intertwining of bronze and white color.

the design continues the tone of the building, with large areas of white stone as the material of choice, partially matching the colors and details of the metal. the architects tried to unify the building, interior work, furnishings, architectural landscape and concepts together to provide a rich experience of multi-layered spaces. in this space, they wanted to eliminate separation and alienation and arouse community identity and a sense of belonging in future residents.
