Kristine Zonka prepares for ‘Dancing for the Space Coast’ fundraising event on June 5 in Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – In anticipation of Brevard County’s biggest charity fundraiser of the year, the 2021 “ Dancing for the Space Coast ” dancers are practicing their dance routines with just a few weeks before the Saturday June 5 at the old Stein Mart in Melbourne.

One of the contenders for this year’s event is Brevard County Commissioner Kristine Zonka.

Commissioner Kristine Zonka was elected to the Brevard County Council of Commissioners in November 2016. She represents District Five, which includes areas of Melbourne, West Melbourne, Palm Bay, Indialantic and Melbourne Village.

Originally from Michigan, Zonka moved to Palm Bay in 1999. In 2007, Zonka was elected to Palm Bay City Council, where she served citizens for seven years. During his tenure, Zonka has been a strong advocate for roads, infrastructure, public safety and veterans issues while promoting lower taxes, limited government intrusion, and fiscal transparency.

Zonka holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in nursing practice. She is a certified family nurse practitioner and works part time for Health First Medical Group.

Zonka enjoys spending time with her husband, Milo, and their children. She also enjoys serving the community through various organizations that help the elderly, the homeless and the underserved.

This year’s event will benefit the following local charities: Eternal Flame, Family Promise of Brevard, Women’s Center of Brevard, Habitat for Humanity of Brevard and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Charity.

In 2019, more than 800 attendees gathered at Florida Tech’s Clemente Center for the fifth annual Dancing for the Space Coast. Over $ 350,000 was raised for local non-profit organizations.
