International Competition for (New) Agricultural Research and Extension Services in Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea

2. Context of the competition:
 Following the relocation of Gyeongsangbuk-do Provincial Office from Buk-gu from Daegu Metropolitan City to Gyeongbukdocheong New Town in Andong and Yecheon in February 2016, Gyeongsangbuk-do’s direct institutions and places of business will also be moved to promote work efficiency.
 In addition, the current site of agricultural research service has experienced environmental restrictions for efficient research of agricultural technologies due to the urbanization of the surrounding area, and it is also difficult to reflect on the diversified research demands of farmers local.
 It has become necessary to accept, commercialize and supply technologies to meet the new research demands of the fourth industrial revolution by securing desirable research facilities.

3. Descriptions of competitions

Estimated design costs: KRW 5,183,400,000 (VAT, certification fees, warranty liability insurance included)

 Competition period: November 26 (Friday), 2021 ~ March 25 (Friday), 2022
 Design period: 12 months from start date (license period and holidays included, and is subject to change depending on the situation)

4. Objective
 New agricultural research and extension services in Gyeongsangbuk-do should be the research base to develop future-oriented agricultural technologies that respond to any changes in the agricultural environment and develop agriculture in Gyeongsangbuk-do, while being an elegant public building that can become tourist attractions of Gyeongsangbuk-do.
 The purpose of this design competition is to select a creative design plan that can establish advanced facilities for agricultural research and education and provide active responses to new demands in this era of technical fusion and industrial innovation in rapid evolution. Furthermore, it should be able to play a crucial role in global agricultural development.

5. Eligibility
 Korean and foreign architects who are qualified architects according to relevant law.
 If the participants are not qualified for ① until the date of registration for participation, then they must form a joint group with an architect qualified for ①. If so, the representative of the joint group is the qualified person for ①.
① Someone who has established and declared an architectural firm in accordance with Article 23(1) of the “Certified Architects Law” of Korea and who is free from any disqualification and performs normal business related to the ‘architecture.
 The joint group representative will lead and mediate the development of the design, construction document, design implementation and conduct construction permits, etc.
 For the joint application, the list of joint participants will be completed until the submission of the application. All joint participants must be Korean or foreign architects, and they must be 3 people (architectural firms) or less. The representative of the joint group will not necessarily meet the conditions indicated in ①, but all rights, responsibilities and obligations related to the competition belong to the representative.
 Entrants to the design contest, registered as representatives or participants, may not endorse any other design.
