INDIANAPOLIS (Wish) – Dress for success Indianapolis invites downtown folks for the Silent Disco dance party taking place on Monument Circle this weekend.
The three-hour event, filled with local DJs, food trucks, drink vendors and a light show, will help the organization raise funds to fuel its mission to bring women back into the community in the market. work.
This year, Dress for Success Indianapolis is celebrating 22 years of helping women, not only through clothing, but also with programs and support networks to help them search and find employment.
Executive director Julie Petr says it’s a job that has become more difficult for them since the impact of COVID-19. Petr said women now face new challenges in the workforce, such as managing a professional life while homeschooling children and other hurdles related to the pandemic.
“90 percent of our clients in 2020 had lost their jobs or had their hours cut,” said Petr. “A huge percentage of women leave the workforce trying to make ends meet. [The goal] is to lift women out of poverty, we need to find them jobs that pay a living wage. This is so the key to what we are trying to do.
Petr also wants the Silent Disco night to bring more positive attention to the area and is partnering with Downtown Indy Inc.
“Our two main goals are to get much needed funds and the other is to get people excited about downtown Indy,” she said.
The party takes place on Saturday in the southwest quadrant of Monument Circle from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Click here to get tickets.
