Oct. 09 (THEWILL) — President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law the Council of Agricultural Research of Nigeria (Amendment) Bill 2021.
A statement released by the President’s Senior Special Assistant for Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said the signing of the bill was confirmation of Buhari’s commitment to diversifying the country’s economy, agriculture playing an essential role.
“With this amendment, the Council is expected to play a crucial role in coordinating research efforts in the agricultural sector towards achieving food sufficiency and security in the country,” the statement said, adding that the President signed the bill before his recent visit to Ethiopia. .
The statement further states that the president has also approved the establishment of two higher education institutions.
These are Federal College of Agriculture Kirikasamma and Federal College of Education (Special) Birnin Kudu, both located in Jigawa State.
