Al-Sisi orders the acceleration of electricity projects serving the agricultural sector
President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and several ministers on Sunday to follow up on the state’s new and sustainable energy strategy, according to presidential spokesman Bassam Rady.
The president has ordered the speedy completion of power projects that will serve national agricultural projects.
The meeting witnessed a presentation of the status of power projects that will serve the national agricultural projects, especially land reclamation in Sinai, Upper Egypt and New Delta, in addition to the lifting stations of ‘water.
Egypt’s Sustainable Energy Strategy aims to increase renewable energy generation to 42% of total electricity capacity by 2035, to make good use of Egypt’s renewable energy resources.
The meeting also reviewed developments in cooperation with international partners in the implementation of the national green hydrogen generation strategy, mainly with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
The president ordered to strengthen national plans to increase the share of renewable energy to keep pace with global development goals on climate change.
He stressed that this should be done in partnership with the private sector and the most prestigious international expertise in this field in light of the growing global interest in green hydrogen projects as it represents a promising source of energy. .
President Al-Sisi was also briefed on the latest developments of electricity interconnection projects with neighboring countries, in particular Saudi Arabia, Greece and Cyprus.
